| # SSC LDC / DEO exam is conducted once every year by SSC to recruit clerical staff for various departments, attached and subordinate offices of the govt. of India. The notification includes following- |
| # Staff Selection Commission will hold an All India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the Group-“C” posts of Data Entry Operator in Pay Band-1, Grade Pay s 2400 & 1900 and |
| # Lower Division Clerk in Pay Band-1, Grade Pay s 1900 in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Offices. |
| # The Commission reserves the right to fill up analogous posts such as Store Clerks etc. in Ministries/Organizations under the Government through this examination. |
| # The Commission also reserves the right to hold the examination in additional batches, depending upon the number of candidates in each State/UT. |
SSC – LDC / DEO Exam Pattern:
The examination will consist of a Written Examination and Skill Test for the post of Data Entry Operator and Written Test and Typing Test for the post of Lower Division Clerk on Computer.
(A) SCHEME OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION AND SYLLABUS
# The written examination will consist of one objective type paper as shown below:
Part I – General Intelligence (Reasoning) ( 50 Questions & 50 Marks )
Part II – English Language (Basic Knowledge) ( 50 Questions & 50 Marks )
Part III – Quantitative Aptitude (Basic arithmetic skill) ( 50 Questions & 50 Marks )
Part IV – General Awareness ( 50 Questions & 50 Marks )
# Total duration of the exam would be 2 hours. All the questions will be based on multiple choice pattern. Negative marking will be applicable as per rules i.e. 0.25 per wrong answer opted. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
# The Question Paper for Written Test will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi.
(B) SCHEME OF THE SKILL TEST:
# For LDC exam typing test is conducted after qualifying written exam. Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. Test will be of 10 minutes and it will be tested on computer.
# For DEO skill test is conducted. It requires Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. Test will be of 15 minutes.

# Candidates appearing for written exam will have to qualify the written exam first. Cut off is fixed by commission as per requirement and marks scored by candidates. Shortlisted candidates are asked to appear for Skill Test and Typing Test for DEO and LDC respectively.
# Candidates will have to qualify skill test and typing test as per the standard fixed by the commission.
# Final merit is prepared on the basis of marks scored in written exam and preference given by candidates while filling up the form. Skill tests are only qualifying in nature

Eligibility conditions are to be ensured in concerned notification published by commission. Here are some common and important criteria for SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (CHSLE) for the post of LDC and DEO:

# EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent or higher examination from a recognized Board or University.
# AGE LIMIT: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 27 years as on date mentioned in notification, for Data Entry Operator and Lower Division Clerk
# Technical qualifications such as Typing efficiency is also required for these posts which are tested after qualifying written exam.
